Two things about that comparison:

1- Cudiccini's career and what he did for the club is not even on the same planet as Cech's (and I adore Carlo, but that's just a fact).

2- Till now, Thibaut at the level that Petr was at in 2004.

I get why the comparison is 'tempting' but it really doesn't logically stand.

Yeah but I think the overall point of his post is prevalent. The fact is, Courtois is stepping into enormous shoes right now and it's putting fans in an uneasy place. Especially when Pete is just local in a much better place in the table.

De Gea came under scrutiny, rightly so, in his first season at Old Trafford and now fans adore him - even if he is endearing himself to Real Madrid.

He's not a finished article yet and under strained times innocent mistakes can get blown out of proportion.

Thibaut was stepping into enormous shoes last season and very few had many issues with the decision. In fact, most wanted him to replace Petr even in the season before that.

He isn't get stick because he's replaced Cech, he's getting stick from the fans because he's let in a soft goal in almost every single match since his return from injury.

So the criticism can't be dismissed as fans nostalgia for Cech. He HAS been poor lately and the criticism is valid and deserved.

This.

Someone on the previous page said people are saying he has "regressed". Nobody is saying that. However, his performances are dire at the minute, though in fairness nobody else is exactly coming to the fore. He is young and needs time to develop and settle - replacing Cech, who was more of an institution than a goalkeeper, was always going to be difficult.

Courtois isn’t entirely happy with life at #Chelsea and would consider a move to Real Madrid, despite his Atlético links. [El Confidencial]

The transfer would please Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who is keen to get one over his fierce rivals Atlético. [El Confidencial]

It seems almost impossible that #Chelsea will agree to sell Courtois, after letting Cech go to ensure his 1st team status. [El Confidencial]

Lol these stories.. Planted so obviously and clearly from baseless sources. It's open season at Chelsea, and first-team quality player will be 'rumoured' to be unhappy lmao.

Courtois is tied for another year isn't he?

I totally agree! Massive difference with his clean sheet record in Spain.

However... the defense he has in front of him would bring any goalkeeper to tears. The Lukaku run this weekend sums it all up. You should watch this again in Slo Mo!

I play amateur league football (like to lowest of the lowest) and seeing this goal reminds me of my weekends :)!!
