His form right now diefies all logic. He was the only dead certain youngster that you could bet your best bet that he's going to make it, in short and long run is going to be huge for this club because he's solid, steady, reliable, build like a tank with some amazing traits and some people even had the audacity to claim that Azpilicueta should never get a contract extension because a) he's washed up and b ) he'll throw a tantrum in the dressing room because he's being replaced by Reece. How things have changed ! Now Azpilicueta is the only reliable option in that defence and for a brief moment just imagine if he was released this summer. Ha ha ha. Self-caused implosion incoming.
I'm still optimistic Reece is going to be good in the long run but it's just another example (no. 9873-ish) that whatever you think is right to do in footbal and whoever you think is great, there's nothing certain in football because there's too much variables and they are people after all. You may rightly think that one thing is better than the other but this absolute nonsense to suggest that everything is 0-1, black and white and one guy is shit and other is great and they're robots that will perform on same level whatever the circumstances - it's absolute nonsense (in Roy Keane voice). You don't have players with stats FM/FIFA-style in real life. But whatever. People will be proven wrong, have a brief contemplation and short-lived self-realization and then go back to the starting point.
I won't lie though, I have a guilty pleasure in this situation. Sorry, Reece.

I think Lampard should have given Sheffield United more respect from the start today and looked to have found a way to combat their style and system as opposed to expecting us to try and beat them with our own usual game. If we don't get top 4 now this season his inexperience at certain times this season will have gone against us no doubt.
But I'm fed up of watching this defence unable to do the basics and make at least a couple of mistakes every game. You could argue we're unlucky that we seem to get punished by the vast majority of mistakes but the reason they get punished are because they are so bad. And these are experienced players too. If it was Tomori or James making some mistakes I would be a bit more accepting but Zouma, Christensen, Rudiger, Alonso, Kepa, all have ample experience and it's not just the odd error its the SAME errors time after time - ball watching, poor positioning, poor touch, poor anticipation, poor decision making.

Because half the pundits cannot swallow us getting big and top quality players ahead of the so called glorious Madrid...
If we get Havertz we become hated again because of the spending....and I fucking love it.

Barkley is one of the few players in the world to see a pass, realise his option is closely marked but still make the pass and underhit it for good measure.

As far as I know, his move to Leeds was only held up by the lockdown and is still on the cards. The club is always tight lipped about these things so I can only hope there was no disciplinary reason behind his departure. It is standard for scholars who will formally be released in June, to be told in January so they have plenty of time time find a new club. Like most academies, CFC work hard to help youngsters find the next step.

The biggest problem is that neither of them can organise the back line (Tomori could maybe do this in time but looks more like a recovery CB2.) Both are very good at doing their job and playing well right now but to be CB1 you need to take charge of the back line. This is the reason we have conceeded so many goals as we do not have anyone organising, well that and Kepa being unable to controll his six yard area. I mean the way some people go on about the CB's you would think that as a team we are hardly letting any goals in when we have actually conceeded goals like a midtable team.

The debate about Kante's position is the most hilarious one. All that rage about Sarri playing Kante further forward and now Lampard is doing the same and not a word has been said.

Everyone says he improved so much but I don't see it, he was already very good. The only reason people (some fans and especially pundits) are starting to acknowledge his class is because Lampard done the very awkward thing of playing him and Kante in the exact same positions Sarri did, meaning it's easier to say he improved as opposed to admit Sarri was right all along.

He has to keep him onside, if he doesn't want to be cropped out.

Need to be careful saying this. Right now it is easy, no pressure,no expectation. We lost few games. No problem. We concede pretty much every game still no problem. We lost easy points, no problem.
Once this team is asked to win, then the game really start. Question will be asked on the player and the manager.

As far as I know that provision only applies to transfers between leagues. Premier League teams are not permitted to contact each other’s players without the permission of the player’s existing club until contracts are fully expired. That certainly is how the rule used to be, and I am not aware that it has changed.

I thought he was excellent between the Arsenal and Leti games, he's been a bit off since then tho. However we have to bare in mind he's playing in a 2 with Cesc, even Kante looked uncomfortable in the same situation and i personally believe it's 90% of the reason Matic crashed and burned so early, you have to do the work of two men.
However i think Conte is aware he needs time to settle and recover from the injury from his comments at the start of the season, i think when Drinkwater is fit that plan might be back on.

What a player. Privileged. Don’t see players like Azpi around too often these days.
