  1. Arsenal 2-0 Chelsea

I'm convinced Sarri cannot handle managing a big club. His Sarri-ball nonsense may work for smaller teams, but when you already have 50-60%+ of the ball due to being the bigger team, you have to find out how to break teams down. Playing Hazard as a false nine and CONTINUALLY CROSSING THE BALL TO PLAYERS WELL UNDER 6 FEET is certainly not the way. He is struggling immensely when he comes up against any sort of quality, has no plan B, is tactically naive and stubborn. The board got what they wanted anyway. A yes man. Well, that yes man may as well drive all of our best players to the airport because they will not stick around for this bullshit. If he wasn't gone before, Hazard is definitely gone now with these terrible tactics and teammates. CHO too. Luiz back to his worst. Willain and Alonso combo = Tweedle-dumb and Tweedle-dee. Kovacic completely anonymous as usual. Hazard didn't care towards the end. Even Azpi had a bad game. Fuck the board.
  2. Chelsea 2-1 Newcastle

Give the ball to Hazard with his back to goal when marked by about 6 Newcastle players. Great fucking tactic this is. Do exactly what Rafa wants. Fucking sort it our Sarri ffs.
  3. 10. Willian

Dogshit. Should have been sold a long time ago.
  4. 5. Jorginho

Suicidal player to have in front of the defence. Presses high up the pitch and vacates so much free space to attack when he inevitably fails to win the ball. About as stupid as asking Fabregas to be the only CDM. Ridiculous tactics.
  5. Mateo Kovacic

Was this after she sent a carrier pigeon to Maradona? She is about as useful as a glass hammer.
  6. The Board

Unless a miracle happens, i.e. we sign: Kepa, Kovacic and a winger under 30 (Martial for Willian?) AT LEAST, the board should be hung, drawn and quartered. If we're not saving for a stadium anymore, where the fuck is the investment now???
  7. Thibaut Courtois

Madrid fans are going to eat him alive. Gets beaten at his near post faaaaar too often. Be really nice to get Kovacic in return.
  8. Thibaut Courtois

Let him go get beaten at his near post somewhere else then. His attitude always stank. Best in the world at defending his area and being a prick. Overrated in every other aspect.
  9. The Conte Thread

When I look at some player's performances yesterday compared to Barcelona (e.g. Willian), I can't help but feel sorry for him. OK, at times it does feel like Conte doesn't care as much but that is also on the players. It's a two-way street. Who started feeling that way first is an irrelevant chicken-egg debate. We're in a place now where we're running out of top managers to choose from. My first thoughts are that he should stay and be backed in the summer - I think we will do well next year if we've fewer competitions to think about. But I also don't want this year-over-year yo-yo season shit to continue. I also don't think there is a better manager out there to choose from. If the air can be cleared during the summer, I'd like him to stay. Regardless, the fact remains that we need more investment if we want to challenge on all fronts. The board will not change though. The likes of City will continue to spend big (despite their very inflated/imaginary 'revenue streams') and we will scrape around in the bargain bins. Hey, at least we go big or go home in recent years (win the league or be shit). Which means next year....
  10. Deadline Day!

Fuck Emenalo and Marina. If I am shit at my job I get fired, but these useless sacks of shit probably get a bonus regardless.
  11. Deadline Day!

Ross Barkley is absolutely fucking dreadful. Why do people want him here exactly? Where will he play?! CM? Can't hold onto the ball to save his life. On the wing? Not good enough. People need to realise that he is far from 18 - he's almost 24 and he's done absolutely nothing of note. Nothing. It is a blessing we haven't signed him.
  12. Eden Hazard

Not if Roberto Martinez has anything to do with it... Looking to injure him...again.
  13. General Transfer Talk

We are slowly meandering towards Michael Hector and Papy Djilobodji territory....
  14. Virgil Van Dijk

The only way this makes ANY sense is if Azpi is to be deployed as a RWB and/or Cahill is being brought out to pasture (unlikely). Considering his price and injury record, it still makes the least amount of sense compared to LITERALLY ANY OTHER POSITION ON THE PITCH.
  15. Yeah, it's literally the last on a list of the very last a very general, nondescript tab called 'The Site'.... I don't think you need to be an expert to know that someone new to the site would likely never see that and never know that the site is mainly a forum. Betting tabs are ahead of it... @Jim I'm not complaining, I'm just trying to help. I just want any newbies to know that we are also a forum - makes them stick around longer. If you would like me to do a UX review, I'd be more than happy to help.
  16. Diego Costa

The slant of the interview certainly allows people to take some pity on him. However, the situation is still the same. He wants out but wants Atletico and Atletico only. Chelsea want the minimum going rate for a 20+ goals striker. Atletico have a transfer ban until January and want a lower fee. Chelsea do not care about their ban and would sell to whoever meets the price. Listening to Costa, you would swear things are very straightforward when they are not. He is not making things easy at all and hasn't done since January. In many ways, I am sad to see him go, mainly because he is the one who has instigated the move with his behaviour and desire to go back Atletico. Conte should have never sent the text in the first place, it gave Diego exactly what he was looking for: the perfect excuse. He has acted like a child since and proved Conte's reasoning in many ways. Now I just want him to leave.
  17. Nemanja Matic

Simply put, he has become motivated again. However, either his motivation or stamina will eventually fade at points during the season. I think we could all see he was not the same player after we won the title the first time. Performing against teams like West Ham was never really an issue with him anyway. People have a point when mentioning his stamina issue and being out-played. His 'performance' against Arsenal in the cup final was honestly one of the worst displays I have ever witnessed from a Chelsea player. For some reason, he was pressing high (as if he was Kante) and was completely useless. It was embarassing how poor he was. These performances were becoming more frequent in his last 18 months. It would be very useful to have him now, no doubt. However, for such a gangly and slow-ish player he is surprisingly reliant on his movement around the pitch and is now approaching 30. I would not bet on him having as good a season as he's had for us in the past. In the long term, I think we sold him at the right time in many ways. In the short term, I don't think we sold him at the right time of the month or at the right price. We should have hung on to him for as long as possible and not let United have such a settled 11 before us at the start of the season. He can also be the difference of them challenging for the title and that is worth well more than what we sold him for... I think United will get a solid year or two out of him before the shades of decline turns into a rapid descent. Mourinho never really is one for 'planning for the future'.
  18. The English Football Thread

Here come all the cretins United fans crawling out from their caves they hid in after the Super Cup...sigh.
  19. 12. Ruben Loftus-Cheek

    Palace fans:
  20. 12. Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Yep! I always wondered why he was continued to be deployed as an AM when running from deep was one of his biggest traits...I remember that friendly against City, he was out-Yaya'ing Yaya with those types of runs... It's actually quite frustrating when I think about it. He could have been getting this experience well over a year ago. I hope his development has not been stunted because of the wish to fulfill homegrown rules.
  21. I know I've been away for some time, but I can't help but notice how the UI quality of the forum has gone down. I tried to post something a good few months ago and I couldn't even correctly cycle through the pages; the UI kept on bringing me to a blank thread. Some of those bugs appear to have been resolved now though, so I'm back. However, one thing I can't seem to get my head around is why the forum is not present on the home talkchelsea.net home page anymore? There's not even a single mention of a forum whatsoever, never mind a dedicated tab to click to. I know the site may being trying to orientate towards a Chelsea 'news' site in order to increase traffic from ad revenue, but I find this absence of the forum slightly disconcerting. I know for many, this site will always be associated with the forum and I think should be represented on the home page. I would also imagine that most ad revenue comes from the forum pages, which makes it more peculiar why it is not represented on the home page...do we not want new members to sign up or the forum to grow anymore? Growing the forum grows the site, which grows ad revenue. However, I know there are other considerations to growth, such as server bandwidth. It's been my job in the past to notice UI elements, so perhaps it does not bother others as much as me. Just something I wanted to mention.
  22. 12. Ruben Loftus-Cheek

FYI, it looks like he had a good game. Really grew into it as it went on.
  23. Branislav Ivanovic

Brana, Mikel and Oscar all going in the same window? Someone pinch me.
  24. The Conte Thread

I think it would be cheaper for Roman to invest in a time machine to take Conte back to 2013, pre-Mourinho.
  25. Kevin de Bruyne

He reminds me on a weekly basis how much of an idiot Mourinho is. How can you have a kid like this training in front of you on a daily basis and just say 'nah, Oscar is better'? I mean, how is it possible? How much of a stubborn bastard do you have to be?
