  1. Krasnodar - Chelsea

Now that the back line seems more organized, it would nice to see the 4 thoroughbreds get some extended time together on the pitch up top in their proper positions (CP on the left, Havertz behind Werner, Ziyech in the right). They need to get a feel for each other’s runs, and Havertz instinct to wander needs to be able to develop so that it is efficient. To say nothing of getting Chilwell and James comfortable with the their roles vis-a-vis the others in attack. I am hopeful that if that group can understand each other’s tendencies, and learn to complement one another, it could develop into something special. That puts a fair amount of pressure on the wide midfielders to defend. I don’t see how Jorginho can fit, but I never have. Maybe I am missing something. Isn’t it clear yet that Mount is a midfielder, not an attacker? As for formations, pardon my ignorance, but isn’t the difference between a 4-3-3 and a 4-2-3-1 more about where the 2 wide midfielders play as against Havertz?
  2. Krasnodar - Chelsea

I too would like to see you Tomori and get more chances. But I also think that Zouma is having a good start to this campaign, a few notable lapses notwithstanding.
  3. Krasnodar - Chelsea

I took his Disaster Class on Facebook.
  4. Man United 0-0 Chelsea

Yeah, I think getting the ball forward will have to come from the wingbacks because the CMs aren’t going to do it. And is the back 3 about getting some people in Rashford’s way?
  5. Man United 0-0 Chelsea

Announcers’ nightmare: James v James on the right.
  6. Man United 0-0 Chelsea

At this point I would just be just happy enough with Mount was playing somewhere other than the attacking line. That IMO is slowing progress.
  7. Man United 0-0 Chelsea

    No Mount? Hard to imagine.
  8. Man United 0-0 Chelsea

I wonder if Havertz will crowd Pulisic like an extra defender again on Saturday?
  9. Chelsea 0-0 Sevilla

Puli has tracked back a LOT the last two matches. His heat map vs Southampton was mostly around the Chelsea defensive box. He gets no space and few touches on the left. This is a big waste.
  10. Chelsea 0-0 Sevilla

Switch Puli and Mount and everything will open up.
  11. Chelsea 0-0 Sevilla

He’s on the left bunched up with James and Havertz. And like last game his heat map is not forward. He is being wasted on the right in this lineup. FL doesn’t know what he has. when he goes to left, if he does, it will loo like last year.
  12. Chelsea 0-0 Sevilla

Agreed. And Puli should be on the left, as he was when he saved Frank’s bacon over and over after the restart. I hope he is on the left today. P.S. 3 keepers in the 18?
  13. 10. Christian Pulisic

It was a radio interview. Usually that means he was asked a question and answered it. Marsch’s demeanor and reputation are known quantities for anyone who cares to try to understand the context.
  14. 10. Christian Pulisic

  15. Chelsea 3-3 Southampton

No worries. I am not a CHO fan boy. But I don’t see Mount contributing anywhere except midfield. JMO.
  16. Chelsea 3-3 Southampton

Saying CHO is Messi is stupid. You don’t seem stupid, so I assume you’d like to put those words in my mouth in order to knock down that straw man and laugh at me for saying something I didn’t say. So you got to do that. Big victory for you, champ.
  17. Chelsea 3-3 Southampton

Pulisic in the left all game and CHO for Mount and we win, despite defensive lapses. JMO. Werner will continue to go off if Frank ever gets around to the front 4 diamond that everyone knows is best. He had it for 5 min today. Dont understand why Kepa is #2 choice, or why the central defense is so bad so regularly.
  18. 11. Timo Werner

If Havertz and Pulisic are on the pitch with Werner for most of the game, Werner is going to go off Saturday.
  19. Chelsea 3-3 Southampton

I suspect Frank won’t get around to playing his best front 4 together until he absolutely has to until Mount gets injured.
  20. Spurs 1-1 Chelsea

    1. I think Kova Will be better once the elite front 4 is in place. He’s the only midfielder who can pass forward worth a damn. 2 & 3 Agree. I really wish Frank would hire a wise head defensive guru. It can’t all be lack of talent in the back line. It just seems like a lot of it is about organization, confidence, and things that are in coaches’ domain.
  21. West Brom 3-3 Chelsea

Nice comeback. Reactions 1. Giroud plays at a higher level mentally than a lot of the other guys. 2. Mount is so much better in midfield than on the attacking line. 3. I don’t know much about the Chelsea assistant coaching staff. But is there an older wise head defensive guru? The team might benefit from someone like that. A lot of legendary coaches in other team sports had someone like that on their staffs. The more I watch the team defend (or not) the less I want to blame just the CBs. It seems like more of a team problem, both in terms of shape and mind set 4. Everything will change offensively when Pulisic is on the pitch. Opportunities will materialize as if by magic.
  22. West Brom 3-3 Chelsea

I hope you post this on every game thread. It always gives me a chuckle.
  23. Chelsea 6-0 Barnsley

Maybe we will tear it up playing Mount all the time on one line or the other. But to me he looks like a box to box midfielder who can run all day, disrupt opponents and take free kicks. He does not look up to the task of being part of top tier attacking front 3 or 4. Nor does he have the vision to feed those in front of him the way Haavertz or Kova do. But he is indestructible and could be a super sub type. I don’t see the attacking wing in him that Frank does.
  24. Chelsea 6-0 Barnsley

You forgot little hearts next to each one
  25. Chelsea 0-2 Liverpool

Didn’t read the full thread so apologies if this has already been said. Things that frustrated me wat hung this: 1. Why Christensen over Rudiger or Tomori? At least his tackle saved a touchdown. 2. Werner will become acclimated. But with Liverpool‘s very high line, he was ready to receive balls over the top that never came and should have. Is that Frank’s preference of building out of the back, or just a lack of vision? Unfortunately, he seem to get discouraged and start making the runs consistently. 3. It seems as though all the people here who have argued that more of the spending should’ve been on the back line have a point. 4. Does Frank rate Tammy over Giroud? If so, I do t really get it. Giroud seems better equipped to blend into the rapid fire attack we can expect to see when all the new players are healthy, along with Pulisic. I suspect that that group will be playing the game at an entirely different speed than what we saw today. 5. Can we make some money selling the players who seem to be way down the depth chart, and spend it on a solid centerback? 6. I don’t see Jorginho or Mount being able to keep up with the kind of buildup/attack that a front 4 of Ziyech, Pulisic, Werner, and Havertz will be running. 7. James looks good. 8. Havertz needs to play on the bottom of a wide diamond up top. I am looking forward to seeing what he can do from that position.
