Then quite frankly that makes it even worse that you're offering no leeway to a team who lost their game changer and are trying to rebuild with academy players (most of whom playing their first season in a major league).
If Bayern narrowly beat us over two legs say 3-4 and we more than match them, will I be happy and walking round going "woo woo we lost 3-4"? Ofcourse not and I'll probably be even more gutted than usual given we ran them so close, but would I be proud of our young lads for going toe to toe against one of Europe's best sides at the first time (a big European knockout tie) of asking? Absolutely, and I can confidently predict more would be than won't, even on here.

Goretzka out is huge. They lose a physical presence, goal threat and organizer in midfield. Tolisso and Thiago have not harmonized that good in midfield so far. They have pace and quick feet all over the place but they lack strength and height, if they field the same XI like vs Paderborn which I think is probable bar maybe Müller for Coutinho they will not have an outfield player above 6ft which might give us a slight advantage on set pieces. Also Giroud will be vital. He should be able to secure tons of balls with Alaba and Kimmich playing CB. The other possibility is that they roll out Boateng to match Giroud's power but he is a a bit of a liability. I wish we would have Pulisic and RLC for this game cos they would cut right thorugh that midfield. I fear we are gonna see Barkley again after his ok performance on the weekend. but it will be risky going for an almost pace-less line-up vs such a fleet-footed side so I am leaning towards Willian over Barks.

Arsenal, Leicester, Man United, Tottenham. 4 league games in a row. We managed to survive 'somehow' this schedule and remain in the top 4. We have lost some point advantage, true, but we have not lost it completely. With players now returning from their injuries and Giroud being suddenly ahead of Bats, we just have to make sure that surviving the last month does indeed count in the end. Starting with Bournemouth on Saturday.

The title is already decided so the higher powers at least want some fight for the top 4. You just watch the VAR decisions going Man United way.

No expectations whatsoever. I will be happy if the players give us fans and the Bridge something to cheer about on a proper Champions League night again. And then focus solely on finishing in the top 4.

Much, much needed victory. Everyone was so up to it,they knew what was at stake. As it was mentioned already, we need to keep this spirit and fight, no matter who the opponent is.
I was also massively surprised to see RLC back in the squad. Hopefully Pulisic and CHO come back soon again and we will have options again.
And also, what a top pro Giroud is.

Mask or no mask, Christensen should not be starting at all. And not for injury reasons.

So Son is out with a broken arm. Yet, he managed to finish the game and score a stoppage time winner at Villa Park. That is the spirit. Terry would do the same. Terry would finish the game even with Christensen's injury. This is nothing against Christensen but he just not the central defender that attackers would fear playing against. You blow at him, he falls off. I hope, seriously hope that we will not see Christensen for a fair amount of time.

So yeah, last night was garbage. I mean we should have got more but we didn't. The ref was wild, var and offside rule are ruining the game. But above all that I had this below. Was my eldest wee fellas first match at the bridge. He laughed, sang, shouted. Was angry, happy, annoyed, elated all in one match. For me last night was a shocking result. But I had this wee geezer to bring me back down to earth. Can't explain the joy it brought me bringing him to his first Chelsea match (at Stamford bridge). Really and truly is what it's all about

Our passing and total midfield play and combinations felt much smoother suddenly, compared to last weeks with Kante in the team. Also, Mount fitted in so nicely yesterday and it was almost like against Ajax where we bossed the midfield.
This midfield break by wanting to play Kante, Christensen's inclusion and Giroud's total mismanagement are my concerns and blasts regarding Lampard.
Kovacic was an absolute monster yesterday and by far our best player this season.
